Our  Story
 

Our practice was founded to provide holistic, integrated mental health and wellness services across Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. As a team of Black clinicians, we are committed to culturally responsive care that supports the whole person—mind and body.

We offer mental health counseling, lifestyle health coaching, substance use services, couples and family therapy, group therapy, and comprehensive clinical assessments. Our approach integrates evidence-based therapy with lifestyle medicine and health behavior change to support anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic health conditions, and overall wellness.

Serving clients throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia, our mission is to empower individuals, couples, and families to achieve lasting, meaningful change through compassionate, personalized, and holistic care.

MEET THE TEAM

Tanisha Robinson, PhD, LCSW, LSCSW, LICSW

TANISHA ROBINSON, PhD, LCSW, LICSW

Owner & Clinical Director

Welcome to Dr. Robinson's practice, where we prioritize your health and well-being. As a PhD level licensed clinical social worker specializing in bariatrics and diabetes behavioral health, Dr. Robinson is dedicated to you through weight loss counseling and diabetes education. She also does bariatric psychosocial evaluations needed for surgical clearance. With a strong focus lifestyle changes and health behavior modifications, she offers support with making health behavior changes via the curriculum from the CDC Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) to help you develop healthier habits. She was trained in the lifestyle coaching program to be able to offer DPP services. Currently pursuing board certification in Lifestyle Medicine from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and currently training to become a registered dietitian, Dr. Robinson is passionate about providing comprehensive care tailored to your unique needs.

She currently offers in person and virtual/telehealth services.

In her spare time she is usually found on a softball field playing competitive softball multiple nights a week, traveling, reading, or spending time with her family and cats.

For a consult for any of the services mentioned above, please reach out to our practice to get scheduled. We do accept insurance for many of the above programs and others are self pay with packages ranging in cost to meet your specific health needs and goals.

Dwayne Wright, MSW, LMHP-S

DWAYNE WRIGHT, MSW, LMHP-S

Supervisee in Social Work, Therapist

Dwayne is a supervisee in clinical social work and an outpatient therapist at Imani Holistic Counseling. He has worked in the social work community for over 18 years as a Caseworker, Direct Support Professional and Qualified Mental Health Practitioner. Dwayne has worked with a number of populations over the years including children, adolescents, adults, Intellectual Disabled, Mental Health, and in-home care for persons with physical disabilities. He currently works well with depression, anxiety and stress management, utilizing CBT, DBT skills and narrative therapy. The populations he currently works with in this practice are children, teens, adults, veterans, and people who have a history of trauma. He also works with people across the African Diaspora (Black American/Caribbean/African) who experience racial trauma, race based harms, depression and anxiety.

He currently offers both in person and virtual/telehealth therapy.

 

Dwayne has been a Washington DC resident since 1986 and is a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School. He is a graduate in Psychology from Bethany College and Howard University School of Social Work in 2007. 

Shamika Hinton, MSW, LMHP-S

Supervisee in Social Work, Therapist

Shamika has over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples and families. In her therapeutic practice, she adopts both a collaborative clinical and forensic viewpoint that allows for client collaboration.  Her approach is client centered using trauma informed CBT, DBT skill building and, other interventions that are individualized to the client’s life experience.

Her passions include working with her clients to heal from intergenerational traumas, adverse childhood experiences, and inner child work through a culturally competent lens. She has worked with clients from various backgrounds including those who are experiencing Anxiety, Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder, and other emotional and behavioral ailments. She also works with clients across the African Diaspora treating stress, depression and anxiety caused by racial trauma and microaggressors. She currently only offers virtual/telehealth therapy.

She is currently getting her certificate in Sex Therapy and is also accepting clients who would like to work in sex therapy. 

 

In her spare time, she enjoys exploring and indulging in the cultural cuisine and fashions of my travels. She looks forward to working with you on your mental wellness journey!
